Guiding parents to teach your kids to drive safely

Welcome to Get Driving.

Your Ultimate Guide to Teaching Your Teen to Drive Safely!

Remember the first time you held your newborn child in your arms, that overwhelming mix of joy, love, and a little bit of fear? You knew you’d do anything to protect them, but the road ahead seemed uncertain, and there was no guidebook to help you through it all. Now, years later, you’re facing another milestone—the day your teen gets behind the wheel.

As a parent, you know how to drive, but teaching your teen to drive? That’s a whole new adventure. It’s automatic for us now—checking mirrors, using turn signals, watching for hazards. But breaking it all down into steps so your child learns to do it safely and confidently? That’s no small task.

We are building you the 'Get Driving' program

  • A comprehensive, step-by-step approach to help parents guide their teens through every twist and turn of learning to drive.

  • With resources that break down driving into simple, manageable phases, our program helps you tackle each phase with confidence.

Make Their Journey Safe, Confident, and Successful

You care deeply about your child’s safety, and you want them to feel confident on the road. You know you can’t leave it all to driving instructors; after all, they only spend a few hours with your teen. The rest is up to you—through every turn, merge, and tricky parking manoeuvre. But it’s not easy. Teens can be unpredictable, resistant, and eager for independence. Staying patient when they don’t listen or make the same mistake for the fifth time in a row is hard, really hard. Google doesn’t have all the answers, and you're left wondering, "Am I doing this right?"

What if You Did Have a Guide?

What if there was a resource that made this journey easier? A guide made just for you, to help navigate these challenging time and turn it into a rewarding time. A program designed to help you turn your love and care into the skills and strategies your teen needs to become a safe and confident driver.

Who we are

Meet Jenny the driving OT, from Driving Well Occupational Therapy in Brisbane.

As an Occupational Therapy driver assessor, I have personally conducted more than 1000 assessments of driving performance, and lead my team in conducting nearly 2000 assessments, and supervised dozens of driving OTs across the country - so I know where driving can go wrong!

My team at Driving Well OT have been working in the disability learner drive space and changed how assessments are completed in Australia. In fact, I’ve won several awards for this - but that is not important - what is important is what we have learned.

We have learned that learning to drive starts BEFORE getting behind-the-wheel. We need to understand how complex driving is, if they are ready for driving, and to master some fundamentals first.

Feedback from parents is that “all my kids should learn to drive like this…. everyone should learn to drive like this”.

My team are passionate about safety, independence and function.

We are taking what we’ve learned in our practice and are now applying this to mainstream learner drivers. We are getting ready to bring the everyday parent a guide to help you teach your kids to drive safely.

Will you be the best driving coach for your teen?
